Workin' Skills into Careers Project

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services-Administration for Native Americans (ANA) has awarded the California Indian Manpower Consortium, Inc. (CIMC) with a three-year Sustainable Employment and Economic Development Strategies (SEEDS) grant entitled “Workin’ Skills Into Careers.”
The intent of this grant is to assist CIMC to build a standardized soft skills strategy for all field offices, including soft skills trainings for staff and clients.  Soft skills trainings include topics such as goal setting, conflict resolution, time management, and planning.

The project works in partnership with an excellent team of consultants and collaborates with staff, Board Members and community members alike to achieve its goals. During the three-year grant period, Workin’ Skills Into Careers will integrate a soft skills curriculum into the Workforce Development Program and provide staff with the tools and resources to facilitate their own trainings in the field. In addition, the project works to link soft skills and career pathways as a way to enhance client employment opportunities.

Summary of Project Activities:

  • • Train the Trainer: Provide staff with a cohesive soft skills curriculum.
  • • Client Focus: Deliver quality soft skills trainings to CIMC’s service areas.
  • • Career Pathways: Build stronger career and skill linkages.
  • • CIMC: Involvement from all field offices, leadership, consultants and delegates.
